We've been waiting quite some time for the new and innovative version of OpenAI's 'Advanced Voice Chat' (I think it was announced mid-May)... and it turns out that now, after months of delays and promises, it will be gradually released to users.
Just a few days ago, I signed up for the waiting list for 'SearchGPT'... and I don't know which product I'm more excited for, but the truth is I already want both of them to be a single unified product.
The potential of combining these technologies is epic... having a conversation with an AI that not only understands and responds to your voice but also has the ability to simultaneously search the internet in real-time.
It's like having a super-intelligent personal assistant that's always ready to help. Almost exactly what we (or maybe only me) always hoped Siri would be...
Speaking of Siri, we know that with the release of Apple Intelligence in iOS 18, we will get a revamped Siri that also might hopefully live up to our original expectations. Unfortunately, Apple Intelligence will only run on iPhone 15 Pro and up models, and since I'm currently on iPhone 12 Pro, I won't be able to test out the current beta release. Based on early reports on the beta, the new Siri is still quite disappointing (then again, it's still in beta and with extremely limited functionality).
Last point on Siri: I must say that up to WWDC, before we knew what the participation between Apple and OpenAI would be, I was kinda hoping that ChatGPT would fully replace Siri (on device, of course).
Back to Advanced Voice mode, will it be a black cat? Is it a glitch in the matrix? Are we experiencing déjà vu? We've been down this road before with AI promises. Needless to say, I'm cautiously optimistic.
In any case, I'm very excited to play with "Advanced Voice Chat", "SearchGPT", and "New Siri" and try each of them out ASAP. Who knows? Maybe this time, we'll actually get the AI assistant of our dreams.
Only time will tell if they can deliver on these promises. But one thing's for sure – the race for the perfect AI assistant is far from over. And as a tech enthusiast, I'll be here, eagerly waiting to test each new development, always hoping that this time, it'll be the breakthrough we've been waiting for.
